Frensham Village Churches

 Project progress.

 We are delighted to report that we are in sight of placing the contract for the extension of St Mary’s.

 We will have responses to our invitation to tender by the end of March and at that point we want to be in position to place a contract for as much of the build and fit out as is possible.  This will see construction start in the critical summer window and complete early next spring.

 Progress on fundraising.

To date, we have raised £317k towards the projected cost of £419kand we would like to say a big thank you to the many people who have donated and helped to raise this magnificent sum.

Highlights so far have been;

  • 140 donors, who will be recorded in the ‘Book of Supporters’ and we are keen to add as many names as possible
  • Stones sponsored to a value of More than £20K
  • Confirmation in January of a donation of £25k from Veolia, which is a wonderful boost.  We have a number of other smaller grant applications in with local, ecclesiastical and historical building charities.
  • We have a programme of fundraising events for the balance of 2012  (some upcoming events are listed below)
  • But the key to being able to place the building contract for as much as possible of the fit out as well as structure of the extension, is to secure the balance (about £50K) of our target for sponsor a stone

 We can be grateful to previous generations for gradually evolving the building of St Mary’s to meet the needs of successive generations since 1239!  Now is our chance to play our part.  It would be wonderful if you would consider supporting the extension and specifically to ‘Sponsor a Stone’ (or even more than one, we have stones available from £5 to £1,250).  Jane or any of us on the Fund Raising Committee would be only too happy to discuss any questions or points you have. (Members are Roger Holmes, Pat Telfer, Peter and Morag James, Roderick Adam-Smith, Simon Claiden, Rodney Raw and Richard Potter.)

 With many thanks or your consideration and support
